July 2018 Meeting Minutes

There were 20 members present. The meeting was called to order at 11:07 a.m. Motion by Bill H. and 2nd by Max W. to accept the minutes as posted. Motion passed. Motion by Bill H. and 2nd by Rick L. to accept the treasurers report as given. Motion passed. Officers Report: RI 399- There will be no mail handlers in function 4. DBCS operators-OSHA complaint has been filed for people running by themselves and who are not properly trained. Make sure you are filling out 1767’s. We have a new website, It is half the cost and will have the local contract, National contract, a blog, JCIM, stewards page, the meeting minutes and more! The webmaster site is We need volunteers to help with day to day union business such as: bid tracking and posting, crew leaders and the policing of settlements. Look for the posting of the duty assignments for postage dues and a job at the annex. Seven reversions are pending. COPA: $21.10

Old Business: Records Retention Policy: EIN and SS# are used for grievance purposes only. Motion by Bill H. and 2nd by Jody A. to accept the policy as written for records retention. Motion passed. Effective July 21st, 2018. A new shredder with a scanner is needed for destroying documents. Motion by Sam N. and 2nd by Quinten R. to purchase a new shredder. Motion passed. Nominations for elections begin in September with elections in October. New Business: Proposal of a constitutional change. Resolution Article 4, section one: Attendance of officers at monthly meeting. Attendance of stewards is required at monthly meeting or stewards training in a quarter. Salaries have not been adjusted for many years. Article seven, section 3. Salaries of officers to be as follows: Pres. $800 V.P. Stewards director: $500 Secretary: $150 Treasurer: $400 Stewards: $250 exception of alternates. Motion by Bill H. and 2nd by Sam N. to make an amendment for $25 per quarter for trustees. Motion passed. The 2nd reading will take place in September. NALC golf tournament is Sept .2nd if anyone is interested in playing. Labor Day picnic is on Sept.3rd at Gateway park in Cedar Falls from 11-3 p.m. Motion by Sam N. and 2nd by Bill H. to adjourn. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 12:34 p.m. Motion by Bill H. and 2nd by Max W. to hold the drawing. Motion passed. Max W. won the drawing.
