The Answers You Need To Make Good Choices and Obtain Your Preferred Duty Assignment

HOW DO I GET SCHEDULED FOR OVERTIME?

Just before the end of a calendar quarter management will post an overtime desired sign up sheet.  Any full time career employee wishing to be scheduled for overtime opportunities must sign this sheet prior to the closing date.  Their name will be added to the Overtime Desired List (OTDL) for the following quarter and scheduled according to the rules established in Item 14 of the Local Memorandum of Understanding (LMOU).

HOW DO I APPLY FOR VACATION TIME?

Everyone should submit a PS Form 3971.  This document should be filled out completely, in triplicate and handed to your supervisor.  The supervisor should sign the PS Form 3971 as received and then return 1 copy.  Management has 5 days to determine whether or not the request will be granted.  If no action is taken within that time the leave is considered as approved.  Career employees must manage their leave to insure they have enough leave or leave can be revoked.  PSE's must make every effort to earn enough leave before the time of the request.  (Breaks in service reset leave balances.)

WHAT DO I DO IF I NEED TO TALK TO A UNION STEWARD?

Whenever you need to talk with the union steward you must make the request to your supervisor.  They must make the necessary arrangements to cover your work area as well as the work the steward may be performing at that time.  Your request should be honored immediately, however during critical dispatch times your request may be delayed.  If you are not given union time on the day it is requested it should be scheduled for the beginning of your next work day. Remember there are only 14 days from the date of a violation to file a grievance, so don't wait to ask for union time.  Certified Stewards List is posted on the APWU bulletin boards at either facility.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A JOB VACANCY?

Vacancy announcements are posted in the small locked bulletin board between the break rooms at the plant, and on a designated bulletin board at the annex.  You can bid a vacancy by completing a manual bid card located above the bulletin board, or you can call the HRSSC 877-477-3273 to place your bid by phone.  Bids can also be submitted electronically at www.liteblue.gov.
